King’s House is a family home lovingly turned into a home-from-home for visitors like us. It is perched on the side of a hill above a small Portuguese village—bright white buildings with orange-tiled roofs—with magnificent views across the valley. We never tired of gazing out over the vineyards punctuated by rows of olive trees, with the bells of two churches sounding the time. As the sun moved across the sky, we moved from terrace to terrace with our meals, reading and wine, always with the delightful wine country vista.
We sometimes drove down to Peso da Regua or beyond for exploring, but often found we were just as happy to “stay home” and relax at King’s House. It was comfortable and beautifully decorated, with everything we needed for our holiday.
Saving the best for last: Easily what impressed us most about King’s House was the welcome we received from Joana and her family. We felt like long-lost relatives from overseas when we arrived being regaled with food and wine. They could not have been kinder or more helpful. Incredible hospitality—Thank you!
