The neighborhood was perfect. So quite and relaxing. We had easy quick drives to the Aquarium and Stone Mountain. There was a quick drive to Super Walmart , gas stations, Chickfila and McDonalds. The house itself, the beds were comfortable and plenty of linens. We found the house clean and organized. In the kitchen, a wisk , a few more spoons and measuring spoons would be nice. Also a small suggestion, in the breakfast nook, maybe a microwave cart would be handy to open up some counter space. Overall it was a wonderful vacation. We enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed our stay. A couple of housekeeping issues we shared with the landlord
Convenient and met our needs. Able to cook most our meals.
Cute little cottage with easy access to all major attractions!
Jus a lovely little house with huge rooms inside. Too cold outside to enjoy the porches and hot tub but they looked inviting. The owner was quick to answer any questions and offered helpful advice on restaurants and attractions. The beds were very comfortable. We quite enjoyed ourselves and our stay.
Treated as a tenant rather than a guest
On the surface, this property was exactly was I was looking for. A home where my family could relax and spend time together. The neighborhood was great. The size of the house was great. I have stayed in many rental houses over the past 25 years. My first task is always to locate and read the house book. This one was disturbing. It informed us that if we needed more than the two rolls of the provided toilet paper, we would need to purchase it. I wrongly assumed that this was a service I was already paying for.
The book also informed us that any food left at the house would result in a fee. I always cook when we travel, that is why we rent houses rather than stay in a hotel. Our dietary restrictions make eating out problematic. When we stay in rental houses we never leave perishables, but often spices or some other nonperishable remain. Once I looked in the kitchen I knew I would have to get creative with the grocery shopping. There were three spices and some olive oil. Honestly, I'm not sure how often the kitchen is used for cooking. The cupboards are very bare. I don't mind improvising, but a spatula and a pair of scissors would have been helpful.
The property owner has every right to make whatever rules they want to maintain the property. Knowing these regulations before arrival would be more honest. I would not have selected this house based solely on the food rule. That would have told me that cooking was not viable at this location. Being aware of the toilet paper rule would have given another clue about the match. This house was not a good fit for our family.
It may be of use to know that we were charged for storm damage to the house. The tendrils of hurricane Michael hit the house the first night we were there. The rain poured. Apparently some of the house trim was found lose or off after our stay. I did sign the "contract for lease of residential property" as per requirement by the property owner, which means that, I was responsible for "all routine maintenance of the Property". In hindsight, I should have known that anyone who was using a tenant lease for a rental would not have a welcoming home.
This is a dishonest review!
This guest not only damaged property but was clearly not respectful of our cottage. She stood up on our window frame and caused it to break to take off cover to parasol. The entire house has new window frames. There was no storm during her stay and no damage was reported upon arrival or during her stay. Additional outdoor cleaning was required as there was a large heap of cut hair left in the yard. When guest was asked she admitted she cut her childrens hair in the yard and left the hair there so the birds could make a nest? Which was baffling. We supply enough toilet paper for every guest stay and this is not an issue. All kitchen utensils were present during guest stay. However if scissors were need guest could have requested and I would have been happy to provide. We simply ask guests to remove open perishable food upon check out.
Great place to stay!
This was a perfect getaway. Marsha is a fantastic hostess. She stayed in contact with us both before and during our stay to make sure everything was perfect. The house and neighborhood were adorable. We had everything we needed to feel right at home. The neighborhood is very quiet. We slept undisturbed until the birds started chirping each morning. I highly recommend this house for a relaxing retreat.
Thank you for you kind words Kellie it was my pleasure to have you stay!
Comfortable, clean and convenient
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property for our girl's trip. It was conveniently located. It has an amazing deck and yard which surprisingly isn't mentioned but we enjoyed sitting out there before we headed out, as well as, at night before bed. The home and furnishings are actually more appealing than the pictures which is typically not the case. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again without a doubt.
Thank you so much Brittani for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed the deck and yard!
