My family (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed here for 10 days and it was wonderful. My two sons slept on the comfortable pull-out sofa in the living room. My daughter slept in the bed in the back bedroom. My wife and I slept in the front bedroom. The beds were all comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed (not only plates and glasses (including red and white wine) but an espresso maker, juicer, bread knife, etc.). Stefan was great to work with before and during our stay. The neighborhood also had everything we needed - two bakeries, a butcher, two grocery stores , an ATM, wine shop, coffee roaster, etc. The metro stop was a block away and got us into central Paris in 10 minutes. It really was a great place to stay - both the apartment and the neighborhood. The one thing that I would caution future travelers about is the noise. The windows in the large (front) bedroom and living room look out over a busy street. We kept the windows closed and I was able to sleep through the traffic sounds (Parisians like to lean on their horns, I discovered!). My wife wore earplugs and was OK. It might be hard to sleep through it all in the summer, though, when you'd have to have the windows open. There wasn't a fan in the apartment to mask the sounds.
The apartment and owner were both fantastic. Stefan was very friendly and helpful, willing to accommodate all of our needs and was ready and waiting at the apartment when we arrived. The apartment itself was clean and lovely, well-furnished and in a great location, only a 1 minute walk from the metro which takes you to the centre of Paris in 10 minutes. If you have kids, I would totally recommend the apartment. We were very comfortable there with our 4 children and the best park in Paris is only a 10 minute walk away, where our kids had fun playing with their new French friends. A wonderful experience, thanks so much Stefan. And don't forget to get your baguettes and pastries from the best boulangerie in Paris, the 140, just down the road!!
We are a family of four, happy that we made the right decision in selecting this property for our week in Paris.
Communication with the owner was prompt and effective, before we arrived we received all relevant information and he always replied to our inquires.
The apartment is close to a metro station which was one of our deciding criteria, since we decided to visit many attractions and friends using the Metro and acquiring a Navigo one week RER pass (super useful). There are many stores in the same street for your everyday needs, a grocery store, a couple of bakeries, some cafes and fruit stands.
The property is as described, two rooms with one and a half bathroom, with all the equipment that makes for an easy stay: a washing machine, dishwasher, hair dryer, a television, music players, etc... the beds were comfortable, we never used the sofa-bed but there is one in case you need a extra space. The kitchen has almost everything you could need for your occasional cooking and the table is able to sit 6. Would recommend this apartment to my friends, and there is a very high chance that we would return to stay here again in this property!
Thank you Francois.
We had a wonderful two week stay in this apartment. All the positive reviews are accurate as are the pictures and descriptions. The owners have done a great job of setting up this apartment to be complete and fully functional with everything you would need plus instructions in several languages on how to operate everything. The separation of the bedrooms, bathrooms. living area and kitchen area worked perfectly for our group that consisted of my wife, our young adult daughter and several of her friends. The apartment never felt crowded and we even cooked dinner several nights for six people in the well equipped kitchen. Our daughter's friend from Paris remarked that the kitchen was larger than his family's.
I have never been to this part of Paris and we really enjoyed walking in the parks (Belleville. Butte Chaumnot, Villete, Butte Rouge) and through the neighborhoods that are not crowded with tourists - not that there is anything wrong with tourists - we have stayed more centrally and enjoyed the hustle and bustle but for a relaxing extended stay it is nice to zip up the hill on a short direct metro ride (15 minutes from Chatelet) and escape to a more quiet but still active neighborhood. We did learn the bus system which is a great way to get around - we would cruise down to Nation or to Parc Villette or Canal St. Martin - there is also a bus from Gambetta (69 i think) that hits the Maris, Louve, Hotel de Ville and Invalides - basically the full tour for the price of a metro ticket.
This trip was the longest time we have ever stayed in Paris and a test to see how it would be like to "live" in Paris for an extended period of time at a very reasonable price and this apartment exceeded our expectations.
Do check out Libertie (bakery / coffee house) near by and Comestible wine / bar restaurant around the corner on Pyrenees.
An extremely well kept, charming vintage apartment with owners who were very gracious. Would stay again in this lively, interesting area of Paris. Thanks.
Prior to arrival Stefan contacted us to ensure he knew exactly when we would arrive. Stefan met us at the apartment, let us in, helped us with our bags up the stairs and supplied us with two sets of keys. He ran through all of the things that you need to know when staying in a rental property, the information provided was very comprehensive so we were off to a good start. There were 5 of us staying in the apartment, including my 79 year old mother and fit was fine for the apartment. The location of the apartment is a convenient metro ride away from majority of major sites in Paris, the local area (felt very safe) has numerous supermarkets, patisseries, a nice wine shop with a helpful owner (wine very reasonably priced too!), subway was very close and easy to ride, we went to Verseille, EuroDisney, Catacombs and all other major attractions throughout Paris using our local metro station ... very easy and convenient. The apartment was clean and we were supplied with sufficient towels/bedding for all, there were cleaning materials (which in many rentals there is not generally!). Even an emergency supply of toiletries should they be required. We enjoyed our stay in the apartment, even the 74 spiral stairs up to the apartment should not put you off, my 79 year old mother felt them.. this became something which will became a funny part of our holiday and will be a lasting memory of our trip to Paris :)
