The 'Benjamin Darling House' was (re)constructed in the early 1700s from timbers of a house that was built following an original Native American land-tract purchase in 1661 near Plymouth. The house was moved to its present East Dennis location in the 1960s and has been completely modernized. Two additions later, the 2,600 home offers unique charm and provenance.
This 4 bedroom, 3 bath property, situated on 2 acres of privacy, is located exactly 1 mile from the beach; an easy walk through a quaint Cape Cod village still retaining many of its existing late 1700s houses. Northside Sesuit Marina is adjacent to the beach which rents jet skis and boats as well as provides charter fishing and parasail expeditions. A small pond and “herring run”, and “ancient” cemetery (dating back to the 1600s) abuts the property. The hamlet of East Dennis and immediate surrounds offer some of the nicest and most pristine beaches on Cape Cod Bay without the traffic and congestion, but accessible to everything the Cape offers.
(East) Dennis is “mid-Cape” and on the Bay side. The house is located close to Rte 6A which is known for its art and antique galley’s, restaurants and theaters. This is a great access point for exploring the rest of the Cape (both shores). The Bay side is shallow in spots and one can walk out almost a mile on the flats (the case with the closest beach). The Ocean side (20 min away) has large waves, and some spots up toward the Nat’l Seashore, have ~ 200-ft cliffs.
The house has 4 bedrooms (three bedrooms have 2 twin beds each) and 3 full bathrooms. With ancient exposed timbers and beams, the house has all the modern conveniences. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms separated by a bathroom.
