My friends and I stayed here mid-May, and the house was exactly what we needed. There are lots of bedrooms and beds, which allowed some flexibility when some of our friends were on the fence until the last minute about coming. The layout worked well for a medium sized group (a large and very comfy sectional couch for hanging out, a large dining room table with a second table in the sun room, two full bathrooms).
The beds were comfortable and the whole place was clean. We also cooked several meals there and the kitchen was one of the better stocked I’ve seen in a rental.
My only complaints are (and these are fairly minor but may be helpful to know):
1) The blinds on the windows do nothing to darken the rooms, so it was really bright by 6:30 am. For us lighter sleepers, it meant we weren’t getting enough sleep.
2) The interior door locks (in the bedrooms and bathrooms) are keyed so that you can’t easily unlock it if you accidentally lock the door. Additionally, when the door is locked, you can still twist the handle from inside the room. So, it’s really easy to forget you locked the door and lock yourself out. I had a nice moment of panic at 11 pm when I accidentally locked myself out of the bedroom I was staying in. The owner got back to us quickly and helped us locate the spare key, but I was stressed about locking myself out all week. So, if you can, it’s probably better to just not lock any doors all week.
Otherwise, this place was really nice. It was close to Mackinac Island for a day trip and had plenty of space to spread out for the days we were hanging out there.
