Fruits, fleurs et calme
Nous avons passé une excellente semaine, logement assez bien équipé mais c est surtout la grange et le terrain avec la piscine, les arbres fruitiers et les fleurs qui nous ont séduits ...attention cependant à l annonce qui ne précise pas qu il y a 2 logements en location et les photos concernent les 2 biens...nous avons cru louer celui avec la terrasse or le second n en n avait pas et ne donnait pas sur la piscine ;
un peu déçus sur le moment mais au final c était bien quand même... nous y reviendrons certainement...
Perfect Rural Relaxation
We couldn't have asked for more from our stay at this beautiful property. Our little cottage was perfect for two of us and the grounds and pool exceeded all expectations. It is very well looked after, full of character and the gorgeous garden and pool were the perfect place to let go and cool down.
Sinterra is a friendly, tiny village in a great location from which to visit lots of interesting and breathtaking spots in central Portugal and on the coast. Santarem is very close by and well worth a visit. It is definitely worth having a car/your own transport when staying here.
Helena, the owner, was kind and helpful from the outset and was quick to respond to any queries and made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable. I would happily recommend this property. And will definitely be spending more time in lovely Portugal!
Pleasant rural cottage near Santarem
We visited this cottage to explore central Portugal for a week before heading south for more of a beach centred week. The cottage itself is classically restored in the local style lying on the edge of a small village 15 minutes outside Santerem, It backs onto farmland offering a superb view to go with your breakfast on the patio. Although rural, the village has a couple of Cafe's where locals sit outside and watch the world go by. We found them to be very friendly as we exchanged greetings whenever passing. A decent pool set in an established garden was perfect for cooling down after the morning run or when the family returned from exploring and a table-tennis table in the barn triggered nightly family competition.
Things we did... walked local tracks/trails, visited Lisbon by train, discovered an impressively large cave system, went to the surfing town of Peniche and (although not particularly religious) toured some of the large monasteries. We ate at a number of restaurants but particularly enjoyed the local choices where the phrase book, some sign language and much smiling was rewarded with some excellent meals.
It turned out to be a perfect contrast to the second weeks beach lounging. The major roads are largely unused so travel is quite stress free and during our time here we felt we discovered the "real" Portugal rather than that of the highly developed southern coastline.
Peaceful, beautiful rural location
This beautifully rural property more than met our expectations. Perfectly situated for visiting several of Portugal's most stunning Unesco World Heritage sites, as well as Lisbon and the coast. We loved the beautiful garden with its views over the surrounding fields and olive groves. Simply but adequately equipped. Very good value for money and excellent information and instructions in advance.
Central to our trip itinerary
We where excited about this location, as it was central to many of the things we wanted to see in central Portugal even though there had not been a recent review of the location. We had spent 25 day traveling the country and had planned that this would be more of the relaxing part of our month stay in Portugal as it has a pool. Unknown to us, we found the beds so hard we actually found it difficult to sleep. We finally moved the cushions from the outdoor furniture on top of the mattress which helped. The sheets needed to be replaced as they are completely worn out. The shower was so pathetic we took the shower head off to get some water flow. We know the owners have paid help to look after the place and probably do not have any idea about these complaints. We loved that we had the use of a beautiful well equipped little kitchen and the use of a brick barbeque as we cooked many of our meals. The little village was lovely and many of the locals tried to have a conversation with us, it just felt safe. With some updates I would return to this place.
Dear Stuart,
Thank you for your rating 4/5, although yours is the first negative comment in our long list of visitor book entries over the past 8 years and it is a shame to have this blemish.
Beds are very personal things and nobody has ever complained before about the hardness of the bed. It is a good quality sprung mattress and, from our experience, firmer beds are normally better in warmer climates. However, I take your point about the sheets and we immediately replaced them after hearing your comment last week – sorry about that!
The water pressure is controlled by rotating the swivel head of the shower, and we have checked again that it is working properly. I wish you had called me so I could have explained this.
Kind regards.
Helena
Beliggenhed
4030 / AL
