The Gray Escape Honeymoon Cabin is exactly as described on VRBO. Clean, quiet, quait, cozy. Perfect place for a romantic weekend.
Great location for hiking with easy access to Moses Cone, Blowing Rock and Boone.
Super cozy and spotless.
It was perfect we enjoyed the peace and quiet Never turned on the Tv an only check our phone one hou
Everything was perfect fireplace was great a little finicky but was great
During heavy rains there was a small leak above the light in the washer and dryer room we just put a trash can and caught the water
Looks like debris on the roof had it backed up. The old carpenter in me wanted to climb up and fix it. WIFE said NO. Sorry We will be back, wife said best place we had stayed,
Very peaceful. Just what we were looking for.
Once again, we had a great time at the cabin. Clean, warm and quiet. Netflix was a great perk as well. We hiked the trails for 10 miles right from the driveway and came back to a warm and cozy cabin. This was our third stay here and we will be back! The owners are easy to work with and instantly responsive
The cabin was very quaint and had all the amenities advertised. A few issues were encountered. The cleaning lady (and assumed daughter) was still cleaning the cabin upon arrival a little after 4 pm. This delayed occupying the cabin for nearly an hour and impacted our dinner plans that evening in Blowing Rock. Operating the fireplace remote was a little confusing: you can raise the temperature setting but not lower it. To select a lower temperature, you have to raise the temperature past 99 degrees which then rolled the setting to the lowest setting and you could adjust from there. Recommend some instructions. Also, the room heater kept providing heat even after lowering the thermostat temperature below the temperature of the room. The cabin became uncomfortably warm. Therefore, the heater had to be turned off then back on. Afterwards, the heater seemed to function properly. Finally, the memory foam bed was extremely uncomfortable. It appears to be well used. My wife woke up the following the first night with extreme pain in her neck and shoulder. Recommend replacing the mattress set with a standard firm-type mattress. The bed was the main factor in the overall rating of the cabin.
Thank you for taking the time to write/review.
Just need to clarify. The mattress was replaced about two years ago. This is not an old mattress. I personally like a firmer mattress and find it comfy. We're all different. The fireplace remote....could not be simpler. On/Off. I have all appliances (fireplace, heater, water heater etc) serviced every year. I ask in my Welcome page to please let me know if there are any issues that need attention. I'm glad I read this review.... thanks for the "heads up". I will look into the heater not shutting off when lowering the temp. The fireplace remote is pretty simple. On/Off.
The housekeeper is not my daughter. Sorry she was behind schedule. She works very hard juggling a few other cabins. I consider myself pretty lucky to have her.
Again, thanks for the review.
